The role will: 

The Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) role at St Patrick’s Primary School St Arnaud supports the social and emotional wellbeing of all students by strengthening our whole-school approach to mental health. The role focuses on building staff capacity through professional learning, providing evidence-based strategies for classrooms, and assisting with early identification and support for students who may be experiencing challenges. Working collaboratively with families, staff and external services, the MHiPS leader helps create a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels supported, connected and ready to learn.

Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • To provide a commitment to Catholic Education and to the safety, wellbeing and protection of children;
  • To provide students with a rich and engaging educational experience;
  • Ensure the delivery of curriculum that reaches and engages students with a diverse range of educational abilities and backgrounds;
  • A collegial and collaborative approach to learning and teaching.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • The successful applicant will:

    • will have a commitment to Catholic education and to the safety and wellbeing of children 
    • have passion and care for supporting student mental health and wellbeing
    • possess the skills and abilities necessary to promote a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing to students, staff and families
    • possess skills to design and implement whole school programs and build school capability
    • embrace a collegial, team-based approach to teaching and learning.
    • possess excellent written and verbal skills
    • will hold Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration.

St Patrick's Primary School is a Catholic parish primary school situated in the Central Highlands, a region in the north-west of Victoria. The Sisters of Mercy established and ran the school for many years. Today, the school is in the care of dedicated lay teachers and a supportive parish community.

St Patrick's is an educating community with Christ as its centre point and inspiration, educating for service in faith, hope and love with the teaching and learning programs of the school embedded in the Gospel values.
