Term: Part-time (0.4 FTE), Fixed Term

About the Role
The Education Officer: Learning Diversity role will be part of the Wellbeing Team and is accountable for capacity building and the facilitation and implementation of support structures and processes that enable schools to develop and maintain appropriate adjustments and programs to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role will include:
- To provide a commitment to Catholic Education and to the safety, wellbeing and protection of children and young people;

Working collaboratively as a member of the Wellbeing and Learning Diversity Teams, contributing to policy development and system initiatives;

Providing expert advice to school leaders and teachers on inclusive practices aligned with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and Disability Standards for Education (DSE);

Building teacher and leader capacity to improve learning opportunities for students requiring adjustments within the Victorian Curriculum;

Supporting schools to implement inclusive practices and frameworks such as the CECV Intervention Framework;

Assisting teachers with curriculum development and evidence-based teaching strategies for students with disabilities;

Providing consultancy support to program support groups and liaising with external agencies to ensure student access to education;

Contributing to the successful implementation of system initiatives supporting students with disability (e.g. NCCD, ABLES, Inclusion Online)

Key Selection Criteria
- Proven experience developing contemporary, evidence-based teaching and learning approaches.
- Ability to provide expert advice on adjustments and inclusive technologies for diverse learners.
- Strong understanding of state and national policies and curriculum design for students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated capacity to build capability of teachers and school leaders in inclusive teaching practices.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including:
- Effective collaboration with school leadership teams
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication across a range of contexts and stakeholders
- Commitment to the Catholic ethos and alignment with DOBCEL and VCEA policies and values
Essential Requirements (can be separate or included if needed)
- Commitment to DOBCEL Vision and Mission
- Tertiary qualifications in Education
- Postgraduate qualifications (or working towards) in Special Education or related area
- Current VIT registration
- Extensive experience in teaching and leadership, preferably in Catholic or similar settings
- Strong ICT skills
- Current Victorian driver’s licence
