Sustainable Racing Team (SRT) Coordinator
Part Time (0.7 FTE)

Damascus College is seeking a highly skilled, hands-on, and technically driven SRT Coordinator to lead our innovative Sustainable Racing Team in a hybrid role that combines practical onsite work with flexible working arrangements.

SRT is an exciting extra-curricular program where students in Years 7–12 design, build and race human-powered vehicles and compete in major events across Victoria and South Australia, including the iconic Maryborough Energy Breakthrough.

With over 35 active students and a strong volunteer network, the program continues to grow and evolve, offering an exciting opportunity for the right person to make a lasting impact.

As SRT Coordinator, you will work closely with a passionate group of students, volunteers, and staff to lead and manage all aspects of the program, including:

  • Supporting students in the design, construction and maintenance of vehicles
  • Coordinating workshops, training sessions and race events
  • Managing communication with students, families, volunteers and event organisers
  • Developing the annual SRT calendar and coordinating event participation
  • Overseeing workshop safety, risk management and compliance
  • Supervising physical training and preparation for race events
  • Supporting fundraising, community engagement and school events
  • Maintaining the workshop, tools, and equipment

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

We are looking for a hands on leader who enjoys mentoring young people and bringing projects to life. You’ll bring:

  • Experience coordinating programs or working with young people
  • Proven experience in engineering fabrication, design and maintenance
  • Practical skills such as welding, metal fabrication, painting, 3D printing, and carbon fibre work
  • A strong commitment to safety, risk management and child safety standards
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, volunteers and the wider community
  • Flexibility to work after school, Saturdays and weekends
