Sacred Heart School is part of St Mary's Parish in Colac in south-western Victoria. The community incorporates families from both Colac and surrounding rural areas. The school, opened in 1962, has worked consistently to provide the very best facilities for our staff and students.
The school has a current student population of over 400. Sacred Heart is committed to the enjoyment and adventure of learning. Our family community is inspired by the gospel; we respect the dignity of all through acceptance, openness and trust. We are committed to faith in education through a school-based religious program and the involvement of children in sacramental programs.
Social and academic learning outcomes are maximised through quality teaching practices using a curriculum that is purposeful, relevant and life-long. Specialist teachers in Library, Science, Physical Education, Indonesian and Performing Arts complement the work of our dedicated classroom teachers. But above all: "The curriculum of our school aspires to mould individuals who can take responsibility for themselves and their choices, giving consideration to their own personal well being, and the rights and concerns of others and the environment. We want our children to recognise that we all have gifts and talents which, with respect, acceptance and team-work, enrich all of our communities.
We want our children to be confident individuals who value learning and knowledge and who are able to communicate effectively with the world around them. We want our children to know that they are a wondrous creation of a loving God who continues to call them through the example of Jesus Christ."
At Sacred Heart we take pride in our students, the partnership that exists between home and school, our committed and professional staff and our place in our parish.
Thank you
