About the Role

We are seeking a flexible and enthusiastic Learning Support Officer/s to join our team. This role will include providing in-class support, assisting with the implementation of personalised learning plans, supporting small group and individual learning.

The time fraction for this position/s is negotiable, depending on the skills/experience of the successful applicant(s). The role may be awarded to more than one person, based on role suitability.

This role/s will be a fixed term contract position for the remainder of the 2026 school year and will be a Category B position under the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022.

The Learning Support Officer will be responsible for:

  • assisting in the provision of a child-safe environment for all students;
  • demonstrating duty of care to students in relation to their physical and mental wellbeing;
  • working collaboratively with the classroom teacher to support, plan, implement, model, monitor and evaluate teaching programs to support the specific needs of students;
  • assisting in implementing Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) goals and associated adjustments to support the specific needs of students as directed by the classroom teacher and Learning Diversity Leader – including collecting evidence of learning;
  • providing direct support for students through a range of strategies including direct instruction, delivery of adjusted learning programs, assessment and monitoring of progress;
  • liasing and meeting regularly with the Learning Diversity Leader;
  • assisting the classroom teacher and Learning Diversity Leader in the gathering of evidence and recording of data;
  • attending Program Support Group (PSG) meetings as required;
  • providing additional support at recess or lunchtime where necessary under the direction of the Learning Diversity Leader and Principal;
  • attending Learning Diversity meetings regularly.

 

 The successful applicant will:

  • be familiar with and comply with our school's child-safe policy and code of conduct, and all other policies or procedures relating to child safety;
  • demonstrate a strong commitment to the Catholic ethos and Catholic Identity of our school;
  • demonstrate knowledge and skills suited to working in the role of Learning Support Officer (recent experience and/or qualification in this area);
  • be able to provide care and support for students whilst supporting and respecting the ethos of our school and its environment;
  • demonstrate a strong ability to develop and maintain professional and caring relationships;
  • require a Working with Children Check and a National Police Record Check.

About Us

St Brigid's School is a small Catholic primary school with Prep to Year 6 classes, situated in the rural township of Ballan, approximately 20 minutes south-east of Ballarat along the Western Highway. St Brigid's has an enrolment of approximately 120 students, divided into five learning groups. All areas of the curriculum are taught in exciting and innovative ways, with literacy and numeracy skills being the major focus.
