We are seeking an experienced and motivated Employee Relations (ER) Advisor to join our People & Culture team commencing January 2026. This role provides expert guidance on all aspects of employee and industrial relations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and enterprise agreements.

As a trusted advisor to both leaders and staff, the ER Advisor plays a pivotal role in supporting effective performance management, grievance resolution, and disciplinary processes. You will also lead workplace investigations and contribute to building leadership capability through targeted training and coaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage employee relations matters, including grievances, performance issues, and disciplinary actions.
  • Lead and conduct investigations, ensuring fair, transparent, and timely outcomes.
  • Provide clear and accurate interpretation of the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement (CEMEA) and related legislation.
  • Facilitate resolution of interpersonal issues through mediation or coaching.
  • Consult and liaise with Unions and Employee Representatives as required.
  • Support absence management processes and related reporting.
  • Design and deliver training programs to enhance leader capability in ER/IR practices.
  • Support the Principal with Child Safe and Commission for Children and Young People (CCYP) related matters.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee or industrial relations, preferably within the education sector.
  • Proven experience conducting workplace investigations.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Unions and Employee Representatives.
  • Strong understanding of employment law and enterprise agreements.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Experience delivering training and coaching to leaders.
